๐Ÿ‘️‍๐Ÿ—จ️ Lesson #3 - Reality Checks: The Superpower That Makes You Lucid

So you’ve started writing down your dreams. Great job!

Now it’s time for the next important step toward lucid dreaming:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Learning to do Reality Checks.

๐Ÿค” What is a reality check?

A reality check is a small habit you do during the day to ask yourself:

“Am I dreaming right now?”

It may sound silly at first — but here’s the trick:

If you do this often while you’re awake, you’ll start doing it in your dreams too.

And that’s when you’ll suddenly realize:

“I’m dreaming!” ๐Ÿ˜ฎ✨

That’s the moment you become lucid.

๐Ÿชž How do you do a reality check?

Here are 3 easy reality checks that really work:

1. The Nose Pinch Test

  • Pinch your nose shut with your fingers

  • Try to breathe through it

➡️ In real life, you can’t.

➡️ In a dream, you can still breathe!

2. Look at Your Hands

  • Hold up your hands and stare at them

  • Ask: “Do they look normal?”

➡️ In dreams, hands can look blurry, have extra fingers, or change shape.

3. Read Something Twice

  • Look at any text (a sign, your phone, a note)

  • Look away, then look again

➡️ In real life, the text stays the same.

➡️ In dreams, the words often change or look strange.

⏰ When should I do reality checks?

Do them 4–6 times a day, especially when:

  • Something feels weird or dreamlike

  • You’re feeling emotional or surprised

  • You see something from one of your dreams

Each time, ask:

“Am I dreaming right now?”
Don’t just say it. Really wonder — what if you were dreaming?

๐Ÿ”” Let the app remind you!

Our Lucid Dream Journal App makes this super easy.

You can turn on Reality Check Reminders and choose how often you want to be reminded throughout the day.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Just go to:

App Settings → Enable Reality Check Reminder → Set your frequency

This gentle nudge helps you build the habit — and bring it into your dreams!

๐Ÿ’ก Bonus Tip: Link it to a habit

Attach your reality check to a daily action:

  • Every time you open a door

  • Every time you check your phone

  • Every time you drink water

Make it a habit, like brushing your teeth.

✨ Why does this work?

When your brain gets used to checking reality during the day,

it copies that habit into your dreams.

That’s how many people have their first lucid dream

they do a reality check while dreaming… and suddenly realize they’re in a dream!

✅ Quick Recap:

  • Reality checks = small tests to see if you’re dreaming

  • Try the nose pinch, hand check, or reading text

  • Do it 4–6 times a day, with real curiosity

  • Enable reminders in the app to stay consistent

  • Your brain will start doing them in your dreams

๐ŸŒ™ Final Thought

This might seem simple, but it’s very powerful.

With daily practice, reality checks help you become more aware — even while asleep.

So go ahead…

Pinch your nose right now and ask, “Am I dreaming?”

You might be surprised one night when the answer is: yes ๐Ÿ˜‰
