๐Ÿšซ Lesson #9 - Common Lucid Dreaming Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)

Learning to lucid dream is exciting — but like anything new, beginners can run into a few bumps along the way.

Don’t worry — it’s totally normal.

Here are some common mistakes beginners make, and easy ways to stay on track. ๐Ÿ’ก

❌ Mistake 1: Skipping Dream Journaling

Why it’s a problem:

If you don’t write down your dreams, your brain doesn’t get better at remembering them.

And if you can’t remember your dreams… how will you know you had a lucid one?

✅ Fix it:

Even if you remember only one word or feeling — write it down in your Lucid Dream Journal App every morning.

Dream recall is the foundation of lucidity.

❌ Mistake 2: Doing too many techniques at once

Why it’s a problem:

Trying every technique (WBTB, MILD, reality checks, etc.) all at once can feel overwhelming and messy.

✅ Fix it:

Pick just 1 or 2 techniques and stick with them for a week or two.

Example:

  • Start with dream journaling + reality checks

  • Then later add affirmations or WBTB

Keep it simple and consistent.

❌ Mistake 3: Giving up too soon

Why it’s a problem:

Lucid dreaming takes practice. Some people get results quickly. Others take weeks.

Many beginners stop just before they start seeing progress.

✅ Fix it:

Stay patient and curious.

Track your progress in the app. Celebrate small wins (like better dream recall or vivid dreams).

Lucidity is a skill — it builds with time.

❌ Mistake 4: Getting too excited in the dream

Why it’s a problem:

Your first lucid dream might feel amazing — but if you get too excited, you’ll wake up.

✅ Fix it:

When you realize you’re dreaming:

  • Breathe slowly

  • Rub your hands together

  • Say: “Stay in the dream.”

The calmer you are, the longer the dream lasts.

❌ Mistake 5: Not sleeping enough

Why it’s a problem:

Most lucid dreams happen in the later part of the night, during deep REM sleep.

If you don’t get enough sleep, you miss the best window.

✅ Fix it:

Aim for 7–8 hours of sleep per night.

You can even try techniques like WBTB on weekends when you have more time.

✅ Quick Recap:

Here’s how to stay on track:

  • ✔ Keep writing your dreams (even short ones)

  • ✔ Focus on 1–2 techniques at a time

  • ✔ Be patient — it’s okay if it takes time

  • ✔ Stay calm when you go lucid

  • ✔ Get enough sleep (it really helps)

๐ŸŒŸ Final Thought

Lucid dreaming is like growing a plant — not a light switch.

It doesn’t happen instantly… but with love, care, and a little patience, it blooms.

Keep going. Keep dreaming.

You’re doing better than you think ๐Ÿ’œ
